About Academics

LCC’s academic programme is designed to stimulate intellectual curiosity, develop essential literacy and numeracy skills, and inculcate life-long learning habits that promote excellence. We want our students to be independent learners that can face new challenges and stretch their capacities to think critically and creatively. We want them to feel free to take intellectual risks and understand that they can learn as much from failure as they can from success. Our programme encourages students to be engaged in their learning processes and appreciate their own strengths and areas to improve. We foster a culture of achievement, where students strive to do their best and are recognized for their efforts.

Choice and variety are two very important elements of our programme. Beginning in Junior School, students are exposed to a variety of assignments and projects to keep them engaged in the learning process. As they progress through the Middle and Senior Schools, they start to have more optional courses from which to choose and the ability to explore the world through the use of our laptop programme. We encourage our students to expand their horizons and choose a range of courses which will help develop a breadth of essential intellectual skills, including creativity.

We also stress the importance of co-curricular commitments. Our students are not one-dimensional; they are engaged in academics, community service work, athletics, leadership opportunities, exchanges and the arts. This helps to truly develop their talents in mind, body and heart while allowing them to learn to balance busy lives. Our long-range goal is to help our students become leaders in the global community so the habits that we reinforce now will lay a solid foundation for their post-secondary experience.
