“If the teacher is indeed wise he does not bid you enter the house of his wisdom, Kahlil Gibran Laptops are standard issue at Lower Canada College, providing students access to knowledge that is current and relevant to the realities of their world. Teachers integrate technology within their respective disciplines as a complement to the learning process, while students use technology to enhance creative and critical thinking, research, inquiry and analysis, as well as share their work through a variety of publication venues. Student Support IT projects are increasingly published on-line by LCC faculty and include a wide range of video tutorials, visual instructions and notes, as well as rubrics and useful links. Our Philosophy Multimedia (including text, visuals, video & audio) provides students with a multitude of media sources for receiving and processing information. Integrated technology projects are frequently designed with careful consideration to multiple intelligence processing and differentiated learning in mind. A variety of publication venues, both internal and on-line, have been established as a means of providing students access to a broader authentic audience. The Plan ~ Knowledge in Motion
but rather leads you to the threshold of your own mind.”
Lower Canada College has an Integrated Computer Technology team that is comprised of various experts from a cross-section of IT fields. The IT Director oversees all aspects of IT, while other specialists round off a strong team that provide direct support in class, often team teaching with faculty, as well as provide support early morning and after school five days/week.
Integrated Technology projects are carefully conceived and implemented with due consideration to current cognitive research on learning, and practical consideration to that which engages student interest in meaningful ways.
Technology and the pool of knowledge it disseminates are constantly changing. Our primary objective is to embrace these changes and adapt accordingly, and in doing so, teach our students how to learn and function as responsible citizens within the virtual and real world. Consequently, we review our learning objectives, as well as our hardware and software needs, in an on-going manner that enables our programme to remain current.
