Junior School (K-6)
The Educational Journey Starts Here
The first years of a child’s education are critical in establishing a love for learning and ensuring future success as a student. LCC’s Junior School is a nurturing environment where ideas, inspiration and stimulation abound. From kindergarten through grade 6, boys and girls are immersed in a bilingual academic program that allows them to explore their creativity, cultivate their imaginations, and discover their potential. The focus is on building the foundations for lifelong learning through the ongoing development of thinking, communication, social and self-management skills.
Junior School students are guided by teachers who encourage curiosity, risk taking and enthusiasm for learning in a collaborative environment. Students learn through projects and group work where technology is integrated into the process. Teachers embrace adaptive technology, recognizing the need to provide students with tools to enhance learning at their pace and comfort level. Clearly defined rules and procedures and an atmosphere of mutual respect create an environment that is calm, reassuring and welcoming.
Walking down the Junior School hallway, you see the smiles of both students and teachers and hear their laughter. With small class sizes, teachers are able to concentrate on the whole child and challenge young hearts and minds academically, intellectually and socially. The homeroom teacher serves as the liaison with parents and sees to the overall well-being of their students. Partnering with parents is key to our success and our top priority. Junior School teachers communicate closely and consistently with parents and fellow teachers, pooling resources and efforts to support each child in being the best that they can be.
All aspects of the bilingual kindergarten program (six competencies) are integrated in both English and French instruction daily, where 70% of the program takes place in French and 30% takes place in English. In addition, students have éducation physique every other day.
