Destiny Quebec 2012 and Arctic Climate Change Youth Forum:
Treading on Thin Ice / L'arctique en panique

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to join us at Lower Canada College in Montreal on April 23, 2012 as we host the fourth Canadian Youth Forum on Climate Change in the Arctic in collaboration with the University of Manitoba, McGill University, Centre for Earth Observation, ArcticNet Inc. and Schools on Board.

Each year Lower Canada College students organize Destiny Quebec, a conference focused on issues of concern to today’s youth. Its primary goal is to give students the opportunity to learn from and interact with experts in a variety of fields, as well as to engage in meaningful dialogue with their peers. This year Lower Canada College has been given the unique opportunity to host a conference on one of the most crucial issues of our time. The foremost scientists, environmentalists and political thinkers on climate change in the Arctic will be gathered in Montreal in April to help raise our awareness of the full magnitude of what is happening in our polar regions, and the environmental, cultural and political implications of these changes for our future.

By raising awareness of the implications of climate change for the north, the Arctic Climate Change Youth Forum hopes to engage its participants in discussions aimed at developing strategies that would lead to concrete action. This conference is an exceptional opportunity to connect and collaborate with prominent scientists and political thinkers as well as other Canadian young people who share these concerns and want to take positive and meaningful steps toward change.
