Drama

Fun facts

LCC has a theatre club. As a group, students go to professional productions and discuss what they have seen.

Fun facts

All grade 7 students take theatre. This allows them to explore the dramatic arts and develop self-confidence and public speaking skills.

Fun facts

Our theatre program helps students develop skills that are useful regardless of their future careers: collaboration, creativity, confidence, spontaneity, public speaking, problem solving.

Fun facts

About 180 students, from grades 7 to 11, take theatre classes every year. Another 65 are involved in co-curricular theatre activities.

Fun facts

In 2017 & 2018, LCC's Improv Team captured the bronze medal at the National Festival in Ottawa.

Students involved in drama have a great time on stage or behind the scenes. Being part of a theatrical production allows them to explore who they are through observation and creation, build their self-confidence, and develop skills for the future, such as effective communication and teamwork.

Junior School Musical

An LCC tradition of more than 30 years, the Junior School Musical is open to all students in grades 4 to 6 who want to perform. Usually, about 80 students take to the stage to sing and dance their hearts out. Heightened self-esteem, valuable lessons in mentorship and cooperation, stage experience as part of the cast or crew, and simply having fun with fellow students are just a few of the reasons to get involved.

Middle School Play

The Middle School Play gives over 20 young teens their moment in the spotlight. Being part of a theatrical production is a valuable learning opportunity that fosters collaboration, creativity, self-confidence and effective speech practices while nurturing friendships. Students can choose to shine on stage or take advantage of any of the stage management, lighting and sound, directing or marketing opportunities.

Senior School Play

The Senior School Play gives students an opportunity to showcase their talents, whether as part of the cast or the production crew. The experience is a valuable learning opportunity that encourages collaboration, creativity, self-confidence and effective speech practices while nurturing friendships.

Improv club

As part of the improv club, students have to think on their feet and work creatively as a team, both of which are indispensable life skills. It is a venue to tell stories and explore character.

Singing in front of an audience, as well as acting or any other art where you display your talents in public, helps build your confidence for "real world" situations. Alexi Kaplin '11
