Parents are an integral part of the Lower Canada College community. All parents are welcome to participate in a number of capacities at the school. Whether keeping time at a debating tournament or joining a committee, parents are valued members of the school community. No gesture is considered too small, no effort insignificant.
With the support of the Advancement Office, parent activities are managed by the LCC Parents’ Association (LCCPA). The association represents both the parents’ and administration’s concerns and acts as a liaison between the two groups. It encourages parent volunteer participation in many areas of the school, including nutrition, environment, safety and security, and fundraising.
The association is a volunteer-run organization, spearheaded by an executive committee whose purpose is to bring together all parents as a community in support of the school’s mission and objectives for the ultimate benefit of the students.
The LCCPA works with the school in the following areas:
- welcoming new parents and assisting in their orientation
- organizing special events (e.g., Family BBQ, Grandparents' Day, Staff Appreciation)
- generating funds for special projects
- supporting the library
- class parents
- operating the LCC Store
The LCCPA also hosts parent information sessions to which all LCC parents are invited. Association meetings provide a forum for discussion and the sharing of information.
