“Students first.” At the very heart of LCC’s philosophy is the creation of an atmosphere in which each individual child can thrive. Since students of different age groups have their own abilities and needs, LCC is divided into four discrete programs, each designed to be appropriate for their academic, social, emotional and physical development.

Each of the four divisions has its own Director, who takes a personal interest in the progress of every child. Two Assistant Heads—of Academics and Student Life—coordinate all the programs, ensuring strategic development from year to year and through the many transitions that students make from Junior School through graduation. Finally, the Headmaster oversees the entire school organization. This well-balanced organizational network provides the structure that frees teachers to focus entirely on the needs of their students.

Junior School - By Leaps and Bounds

From their first days at LCC, our youngest students are welcomed into an atmosphere where the love of learning is woven into every part of the program. Supported and guided by a dedicated team of exceptional teachers, children in the elementary grades develop the confidence that will help them reach their full potential in mind, body and heart.

Our large and vibrant classrooms and gyms—along with our science and music centres—sparkle with original ideas and discovery. With their infectious energy, Junior School students form deep bonds with their teachers and peers while learning the values of respect, trust and responsibility that are such a crucial part of the LCC experience.

Middle School - A World of Their Own

The children in grades 7 and 8 are living through a unique period in their lives: a time of great physical, emotional and intellectual change. They are no longer in the small and personal atmosphere of Junior School, nor are they quite ready for the independence and complexity of Senior School. The LCC Middle School program is designed especially to bridge the gap between these two worlds—to give these 12- to 14-year-old boys and girls an environment that strikes a balance between a warm support system and the need for self-reliance and mature organizational habits.

Combining academic and co-curricular pursuits, and with a House Advisory program designed to ensure that each student’s growth and development is monitored every step of the way, Middle School is an immensely challenging and rewarding time of expanding intellectual boundaries and a growing sense of responsibility.

Senior School - The Pursuit of Excellence

LCC’s Senior School is an exceptionally rich environment, brimming with academic challenge and accomplishment and bustling with community, athletic and social activity. The students of grades 9, 10 and 11 know that they are preparing not only for their future studies but to be passionate and engaged members of society.

Always encouraged to develop critical thinking skills and academic independence, students continue to profit from exceptional support from their teachers and their advisor, with whom they meet daily. As they move towards graduation, Senior School students are exposed to greater academic rigour and wider choice in their areas of study. Meanwhile, they are expected to be deeply involved in the life of the school: opportunities abound to participate in international exchanges and service trips, clubs and activities, athletics and the arts. Students are also expected to give back to the community through LCC’s service program.

Pre-University - Above and Beyond

For high school graduates from Quebec and elsewhere, LCC’s Pre-University program (grade 12) is a one-year, university-preparatory bridge to universities outside the province of Quebec and a great alternative to the CEGEP system.

Students entering Pre-U have already made the momentous decision to attend university away from home, and our program will give them the tools they need to flourish at the highest levels. LCC Pre-U graduates have consistently gone on to find academic and personal success in universities across Canada, in the United States and overseas.
