Advanced Placement exams are administered at the high school level by the Princeton-based College Board. Satisfactory AP scores on such examinations may exempt a student from comparable first year courses at most American and Canadian universities. LCC is proud to offer the AP exam option to grade 11 and Pre-University Year program students.
The school has merit-based scholarships available at a variety of levels. A need-based bursary program is also available. More>

The Junior School program is fully bilingual with the exception of the kindergarten program, where these students receive 70% of their instruction in French and the balance of the program is taught in English.
Middle School students follow one of three French program options: Français de base, enrichi or acceléré. Placement in the three levels depends on entrance test results and past academic records. Science and geography are also offered in French at the Middle School level to augment language skills.
Senior School students are placed in one of three French program options: français de base, français enrichi or français acceléré. Ethics and Religious Culture is also offered to select students in French in grade 9, and there are optional courses at the grade 10 and 11 levels offered in French from which students can choose. Finally, students complete their grade 11 Integrated Project in French.
Our school offers a wide range of co-curricular programming to students of all ages.
- Athletics: cross-country running, football, soccer, volleyball, basketball, swimming, golf, tennis, track & field, rugby, baseball, hockey, jujitsu, yoga
- Visual and performing arts: band, choir, drama
- Leadership and service: Students' Council, Graduate Pride, Round Square, Duke of Edinburgh Program, and the House system
- Clubs: Current Affairs, debating, Destiny Quebec, Roots and Shoots, Lion Productions, math competitions, The Wire, robotics, and the yearbook
The co-curricular program is designed to enhance the child's learning experience and is an inherent part of the school's educational philosophy. LCC does expect a child to make a contribution to the school community but in no way obligates a child to participate in every opportunity. Our goal is to see a child take on new challenges and experiences while maintaining a balance between academic, social, and extra-curricular responsibilities.

Post-secondary individual advising begins with LCC's University Advisor in grade 9. The university advisor maintains an extensive and current library of post-secondary option resources. This resource centre, which houses catalogues, view books, pamphlets, videos, and an assortment of guidebooks, is always open to our students. A wide variety of North American university representatives visit LCC annually.
Lower Canada College views parents as important partners in the educational process. More than 200 people volunteer annually as part of the LCC Parents' Association (LCCPA). Throughout any school year parents can be found helping out as class parents, as a member of the LCCPA executive, in the library, chaperoning school outings, judging competitions, offering professional expertise or volunteering in the LCC Store.
There are two professional school counsellors on staff (one male and one female) whom students can contact in confidence at any time.
Building upon past traditions, and incorporating our Advisory groups, the House system is designed to provide a comprehensive framework for promoting and rewarding student participation at all levels. All students from Junior School to Pre-U Year are involved in inter-house competition covering the full range of LCC activities: academics, athletics, arts/cultural activities, and community service. Membership in houses fosters school spirit, a real sense of belonging, mentoring opportunities, and closer personal relationships with students in higher or lower grades.
