Grade 8 Theatre Arts
Grade 8 theatre arts focuses on the origins of theatre while looking at how an actor uses observation to create visual imagery. The students explore the origins of western theatre by learning about Ancient Greek Theatre and the use of the chorus and ode. Subsequently, they explore the 16th-century Italian theatrical form of Commedia Dell’ Arte, which is a physical improvised theatre that is the basis for many TV characters we see today.

Middle School Play
The Middle School play gives over 20 young teens their moment in the spotlight. Being part of a theatrical production is a valuable learning opportunity that fosters collaboration, creativity, self-confidence and effective speech practices, while nurturing friendships. Students can choose to shine on stage or take advantage of any of the stage management, lighting and sound, directing or marketing opportunities.
Improv Club
As part of the improv club, students have to think on their feet and work creatively as a team, both of which are indispensable life skills. It is a venue to tell stories and explore character. LCC is the proud host of the Quebec regional tournament.

Grade 9 Theatre Arts
Grade 9 theatre arts seeks to introduce the student to the world of theatre with an emphasis on creativity and collaboration. It is designed to explore methods of communication through the use of drama modes. Fundamental skills such as speech, body control, and awareness, dramatic and choral reading, writing, visual awareness and improvisation are addressed. Students specialize in acting and producing a one-act play. They learn the importance of the artistic process and participation is compulsory to achieve success.
Grade 10 Theatre Arts
Grade 10 theatre arts is a more advanced approach to theatre studies. Students explore dramatic exercises to increase their self-awareness, capacities, self-control, and perception of others and of the world. The class produces a play through the course of the year and students learn aspects of theatre design in addition to acting skills.
Grade 9 theatre arts is usually a prerequisite for entry to this course. However, it is essential that students have a genuine interest in undertaking a voyage of discovery in theatre.
Grade 11 Theatre Arts (One-Act Play)
The grade 11 one-act play course is an opportunity for students to come together as a grade and produce a play. They are guided through the entire process.
