Middle School

In Middle School, we continue to use technology to support learning. Students learn to type, problem solve, and be creative using Apple iPads. They learn to build robots and use code to solve complex real world and out-of-this-world experiences.   From video, graphic design and virtual reality, students have the opportunity to try new and innovative forms of technology as they learn.

  • iPads in Middle School are essential tools that are used to share and research information and encourage collaboration. Students have the ability to demonstrate their understanding with media-rich presentations comprised of text, pictures, video, audio and original musical creations. The potential of the iPad to allow students to encode information from various media sources appeals to a wider scope of learning styles, which often helps teachers better identify where misconceptions are coming from.
  • iPride consists of a group of students who explore technology in the classroom and find new ways of using it.
  • The Coding Program in Science involves two to four hours of coding projects throughout the year. Projects range from building data collection rovers that operate on a small-scale model of the Mars surface to botany experiments that are managed by robots. Middle School students also have the opportunity to participate in an after-school JAVA course, a robotics club, and the First Robotics Competition.   • Google Classroom provides a virtual space for teaching and learning that is an extension of the LCC classroom. Teachers post assignments, publish media-rich online lessons, produce automated quizzes, receive assignments, and provide feedback. Google Drive, Docs, and Slides provide students with an active learning environment where they can produce their own content, and share and collaborate with students in real time, within their own class or while abroad.
