CRC Robotics Competition 2023

CRC Robotics Competition 2023

Senior School

LCC's Senior School robotics club participated in the CRC Robotics Competition February 16-18, and we had one of our best showings ever. The competition has many facets beyond remote controlled robotics. We compete against public and private high schools, as well as CEGEPs in designing a website, an elaborate display kiosk, a 5-minute movie and a programming challenge. Watch the highlight video.

  • 3rd place overall!
  • 2nd place: Robot Design Division 2
  • 1st place: Robot Construction Division 2
  • 2nd place: Video Component Division 2
  • 2nd place: Website Content Division 2
  • 1st place: Kiosk Division 2

Congratulations team, it was an amazing experience!

Junior School

On February 17, the Junior School Robotics team competed in their first CRC Junior Robotics Competition. There were 15 teams from five schools and community organizations. Our students were among the youngest there and did amazing for their first time competing.

The team competed in three different challenges:

  • The first task was to pick up a die, turn around and place the die on a shelf as quickly as possible. Students came 5th and 8th in this challenge!
  • In challenge 2, the students had to measure a line of unknown length on the floor using a robot. Students placed 8th and 14th in this challenge!
  • The third challenge was to navigate along a wall, avoiding obstacles. This task was the most challenging to code— students achieved 11th and 14th place!
  • We also received points for the students' understanding of robotics, the tasks and team spirit. Overall we came in 9th and 12th!

We are super proud of the team. Congratulations, everyone!
