Congratulations to our Fab Lab and design teacher, Mr. Mathewson, who recently graduated with a Master of Design from Concordia University. His research focused on design education in schools, more specifically the key challenges and opportunities that arise when teaching design.
LCC's Fab Lab, our digital fabrication laboratory, inspired Mathewson's research as he saw firsthand the influence of design constraints and process avoidance on students' learning experiences. Through these observations, he sought to make the Fab Lab a more accessible and welcoming space for all students and emphasize the importance of maker-driven design, a term used to describe experiential and action-oriented learning.
